Rose Johnson and Robin Bare: Again thanks for your concern and Holy Scriptures pertaining to our son living with us after a year. We enjoy his presence and we believe The Holy One sent him to us. Your concern and prayers have been very healing. Blessings to you all who listened to our fears and concern.
Life struggles have a hidden door that allows us to grow personally overcoming our personal needs, as we offer ourselves for God to work through us. By taking time to remind ourselves that no matter the troubles and struggles, we can allow this situation in life to help us become more pure while working to open our hearts. Many times having compassion for what we do not understand, compassion for what we cannot control, and openness to 'be with them' because God is also in them, allows us to become God's hand and embrace.
Sometimes, all we need to find ourselves when we are lost and in trouble is a compassionate heart that can stand our darkness because they are aware of theirs.
Christ in me...Because the God who said, Out of darkness light shall shine, is the One who shined in our hearts to illuminate the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God and not out of us.”—2 Corinthians 4:6-7 “I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.”—Galatians 2:20
Thank you for the helpful reminders from scriptures. I am having a hard time with a relative who will be living with my wife and I for some probable long time . II had to get alone several times a d remind self of the long hard journey our son has had in life. Will need to re.mind self of this several times a day. This seems to help right now. We are getting along much better because of it. Giving thanks to God for this opportunity too help him. Again thanks for scripture reminders
I'll share a prayer with you I wrote recently that sort of relates to this passage:
I Love You, My Maker
Creator, you come to me in silence, in ceaseless inquiry, in doubt and despair, and in faith and love. You are always here - my bedrock, my foundation, the very essence of me, and that from which I draw life, light, and love. The very thought of You, even when I am plagued by doubt, deepens my faith in and awareness of You.
When I ponder You in fleeting moments of clarity, I am left both in awe and overwhelmed. Sometimes this sensation of feeling overwhelmed is scary and at other times it is reassuring. It is reassuring to know that there truly is nothing else but You; and that to think otherwise equates to building sand castles on air.
Writing this, I just felt pierced by You and the tears, once again, came; painful, cleansing, cathartic, affirming tears. “Oh, my Creator…my Creator, I know You’re here!” I just bellowed. I open my small Bible and am struck by a few passages in Habakkuk 3:3-19:
[The Creator’s] splendor covered the heavens, and the earth was full of [the Creator’s] praise. [The Creator’s] brightness was like the light; rays flashed from [the Creator] and there [the Creator’s power was veiled] … [The Creator] is my strength, [making] my feet like the deer’s; the Creator makes me tread on my high places.
Only You could break me to rebuild and lift me, Creator. Only You could penetrate me from the inside out, making me realize that You are as close to me as are my own breath and heartbeat. Only You could make me ache to make me euphoric. I want to be with You, Creator, and only You. I want to feel Your light and love envelope me, and I want to lie suspended in Your embrace.
Once again, I opened my small Bible and this time stumbled across Hebrews, of which the following passages stood out – 1:10-12; 2:10-12; 2:14-15; 2:18; 3:7-8; 3:12-15; 4:9-16; 5:2-3; 5:7-9:
You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe You will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.
For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons [and daughters] to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have One Source.
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, [Christ] himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
For because [Christ] himself suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness…
Take care, brothers [and sisters], lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from [God’s]. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people.
In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.
This scripture spoke to me of pain, humility, sacrifice, and of light, love, and grace. This is a constantly flowing and changing process rooted in the certainty of Your omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence isn’t it, Creator?
I must bow before You, low and in total reverence and with complete adoration and love. It is in the bowing that our faith and strength is tested, and that we are exalted by Your providence, power, mercy, and care. It is in how low we bow that we are raised up and that the height of our ascension is determined; raised up to know, understand, and feel You completely yet indescribably.
Creator, I can feel my soul and spirit singing deep within with the knowledge of Your Presence, which hums softly to me. You never leave me bereft. You have blessed me so and I ask for forgiveness for all of the sins and mistakes I have committed; for how flagrantly I have disobeyed and forgotten You in moments dominated by evil and darkness. Continue to speak to me – never let your communication to and with me cease. May Your wishes and commands run through me like living water, like a constant stream that fills me and cleanses me and baptizes me anew every day.
Creator, hover over me and over those I love, and over those I know and have known throughout my life, and over all of the strangers on this earth. Fill and surround me – and them – with the awareness of Your ever-present Holy Spirit within and around me. I love You, my Maker. Amen.
Be with peace my brother. Do not allow the darkest to over come the light which is with you always. I love the book of Mathew, my most loved is C6:7-15 May the Grace of God be with you. Your friend Robin
